GP Nord and Friends Bring Joy to Children at “Ābolēni 2025” Camp

On Thursday, August 7, GP Nord employees, together with the amateur basketball team “Dzirnavas/GP Nord” – made up mostly of young Latvian medical professionals – took part in the “Ābolēni 2025” camp for children with chronic illnesses and their friends, held in Abragciems. The camp is organized by the “Sūrābele” association for families of children with chronic conditions. This warm-hearted and sport-filled evening brought joy, creativity, and togetherness to children and their families.

The event began with friendly reunions and technical preparations – setting up sound and lighting equipment, as well as an inflatable castle to make the evening more colorful. This was followed by sports activities on the football, volleyball, and basketball courts. The energy kept flowing with a “moving basketball hoop”, bowling, and other ball games, where children actively played alongside our friends from the “Dzirnavas/GP Nord” basketball team.

For the younger participants, the inflatable castle provided endless fun until nightfall. After dinner, children and parents enjoyed making ice cream with berries, sweets, and popcorn, as well as a bubble party, dancing, and children’s vocal performances.

During the evening, campers also showcased short films they had created themselves, giving both guests and fellow participants a glimpse into their camp experiences.

The day concluded around a campfire, where an award ceremony took place. Each child received a special surprise from GP Nord – a truck-shaped candy box. This heartfelt gesture marked the perfect ending to a day filled with smiles and shared moments.

GP Nord is delighted to continue its long-standing cooperation with “Sūrābele”, and this year to enrich it with the participation of the “Dzirnavas/GP Nord” basketball team, creating even more opportunities for children to be active, make friends, and feel special.

We believe that such gatherings as “Ābolēni 2025” not only create unforgettable moments for children but also strengthen family unity and optimism, bringing smiles to everyone involved.
